Every ninth-grade English I student will be in a PAP course.  The purpose of English I PAP will be to develop language skills, reading skills, and writing skills. This course builds the foundation for the next three years of language arts at Lufkin High School.

  3. Be in your seat prepared to work when the tardy bell rings.
  4. Do your best to handle personal business (turning in forms, questions for other teachers, going to the office to get money, restroom) before or after class.
  5. No food or drinks other than bottled water will be allowed in the classroom for any reason.
  6. Students may have cell phones at school; however, they must not be visible except on designated BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) days.  However, listening devices must not be used or visible at ANY time.
  7. Students are expected to follow the dress code as specified in the student handbook.

Attendance

When an English I PAP student misses class for any reason, it is his or her responsibility to ask about missed work and/or assignments.

Major assignments:  must be made up at school within one week of the absence.

Daily Assignments: Students will be given one day for each day missed to complete and return daily assignments missed due to absences.

It is not the responsibility of the teacher to remind students of missing work and/or assignments. Any missing assignments will be recorded in the grade book as a zero until made up by the student. For example, if a student misses one day, he will have 1 day upon his return to make up the assignment.
